Summary

Two sisters。

One brutal murder。

A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…

And an intoxicating romance。

Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe – witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution。 One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant。 Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin…desecrated beyond belief。 Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden。

Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child。 Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island。 But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…

That was EPIC!!! Im so excited to read book 2, I haven't read a book quite that engaging since ACOTAR and From Blood and Ash。 It was well written and by the end I was hooked。 I enjoyed it way more than Stalking Jack the Ripper。 This book seemed more geared towards adults than YA which is fine by me!!!!! Wrath is hot。 The cover is beautiful。 And the audiobook is amazing。 Overall, I did enjoy the book, but I couldn't help but notice a few things that didn't make sense to me。 It was because of these things I didn't enjoy the book as much as I could have。 First of all, why are the devil's horns called the Horns of Hades?? The devil is not Hades, and in a narrative that is very much influenced by Christianity, how does Hades even factor into the picture? It made no sense。 At first, I thought the boo Wrath is hot。 The cover is beautiful。 And the audiobook is amazing。 Overall, I did enjoy the book, but I couldn't help but notice a few things that didn't make sense to me。 It was because of these things I didn't enjoy the book as much as I could have。 First of all, why are the devil's horns called the Horns of Hades?? The devil is not Hades, and in a narrative that is very much influenced by Christianity, how does Hades even factor into the picture? It made no sense。 At first, I thought the book was set in modern day。 But then the fashion (long dresses/skirts) implies that it might be set in older times? Still, the narrative and characters seemed very modern to me and did not really represent their time period。 But then again, I could be wrong, because a time period or year is never mentioned, which is another problem in itself。 I liked the idea of Wrath。 A handsome and powerful Prince of Hell? Yes please。 But at the same time, this is literally Wrath。 General of War。 Vengeance, anger, and violence personified。 How the hell did he stand there and take Emilia's shit for the entirely of the book??? Sorry, but I found it hard to believe。 Emilia was so infuriating and annoying。 I get that she liked cooking and wove spells with cooking or whatever, but maybe I didn't want to read paragraph after paragraph about scampi。 It did make me hungry though。 She's literally a witch and was taught about the Wicked from childhood, but she doesn't believe in them。 She thinks witches exist but werewolves and vampires don't?? Basically, she meets a Prince of Hell, he offers her some deal, she milks him for information, and then refuses the deal。 Then this entire thing happens again like 5 more times。 It was very predictable。 I was also able to predict who the murderer was。 Despite how much she tried to be "bad" and vengeful, she was very obviously a sheltered goody-two-shoes。 How could she possibly have hoped to outmaneuver the devil and demons as old as time? Overall, this book had lots of potential。 It just didn't manage to reach it。 。。。more

Maybe I’m too old for the princes of hell trope, but this was just not my favorite。 Kerri was so vibrant and fresh with Stalking Jack the Ripper and this felt far more unoriginal and filled with tropes。 Also, in the audiobook, Amelia and Wrath have English accents while literally everyone else has Italian so I don’t know what’s up with that。

I really enjoyed this novel, what I love about Emilia is that she starts off as sweet, in her own world, closed off a bit, to outgoing, unapologetic and (the appropriate word would be) wrathful witch。We can see her slowly becoming more consumed by her darker side throughout the book and I can’t wait to read the next one, I’m fascinated by novels that the mc becomes the “morally grey character” or even “villain” in a sense。 Doing whatever it takes to save those she loves and the good of the world I really enjoyed this novel, what I love about Emilia is that she starts off as sweet, in her own world, closed off a bit, to outgoing, unapologetic and (the appropriate word would be) wrathful witch。We can see her slowly becoming more consumed by her darker side throughout the book and I can’t wait to read the next one, I’m fascinated by novels that the mc becomes the “morally grey character” or even “villain” in a sense。 Doing whatever it takes to save those she loves and the good of the world no matter how ruthful vengeful or wrathful she may become and I can’t wait to see if the next book includes this。 I’m going to give this 5 stars because the world is beautiful, I’m obsessed with Italy and that’s exactly where this takes place, I love the concept of magic and witchcraft and Emilia and her family come from a long line with ancient practices and it’s amazing to read about, also I can defiantly tell the author has kitchen experience because of the detail she puts into the recipes Emilia and her family makes。 One star: witchcraft Two star: takes place in ItalyThree star: Emilia, and her backstory Four star: mentions Greek myths Five star: Wrath 。。。more

。。。more

3。5*See I enjoyed the actual story enough but the writing style was so limited and excruciating to read at points。 The simplicity in the first person narrative gave the effect of a book written by a 13 year old。 Some aspects were enjoyable but I felt detached from the characters and felt as if the main characters pain wasn’t portrayed correctly。 Also do not think this involves romance at all, the man barely spoke。 The world was interesting and the concept as well

Andrea

Super fun story but a bit of a quick pace, and a very dissatisfying romance between Wrath and Emilia

2。5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️This was starting out strong and then as the pages went by, I got bored。 Don’t get me wrong, the writing style is amazing! My complaint are the characters and how boring and bland they are! I did NOT feel a connection between Emilia and Wrath。 Or between any characters at all。 World building was good but after it was built I felt that nothing really moved forward in keeping me entertained and hooked。 This one isn’t for me。

i’ll kiss wrath! wait what? i meant to say i’ll kick wrath’s ass!

I love when a book invites me in and I never want it to end。 It was a wonderful read and I want to dissect it。The beginning of this story is a good pace, building up Emilia's background with her twin sister Vittoria and her loving parents and Nonna。 She is a witch but in secret as her family owns a family restaurant called Sea & Vine。 There they cook and live normal lives。Despite Vittoria and Emilia being twins, Emilia realizes that Vittoria had a bunch of secrets。 That le This book was so good! I am so excited! Wonderful read! 。。。more

This was a fun read! I think the world-building was really strong, but the characterisation for Wrath was lacking just a smidge。 I enjoyed Maniscalco's writing style, and thought Emilia was a good protagonist。 Definitely interested to see how the series progresses! I did like the book。 I felt some plot development parts were slow, but you can tell it’s really building towards something great in book 2。 Definitely a book that is setting the stage for continuation and gives a foundation。

I’d give this book 4。5 stars but I’m rounding up。 I loved the story and the concept, and Amelia was a great character to follow。 Much like her Stalking Jack the Ripper series, I found myself unable to put the book down。 Well, audiobook (which was wonderful)。

The cover to this YA fantasy is stunning, which initially attracted me to the novel。 I enjoyed the plot and the characters were memorable, the main character Emilia's sister, Vittoriawas's was murdered and Emillia sets out avenge her death。 。 This is the first novel in a series and I'm looking forward to the next installment。 The cover to this YA fantasy is stunning, which initially attracted me to the novel。 I enjoyed the plot and the characters were memorable, the main character Emilia's sister, Vittoriawas's was murdered and Emillia sets out avenge her death。 。 This is the first novel in a series and I'm looking forward to the next installment。 。。。more

This is painting-by-numbers。 Checking off different bullet points of a list with all the elements of what sells a novel today。 However, no cohesion between these markers。 Also, a general tone deafness that grates to no end。 Certain audiences may well be taken in by the potentially redeemable bad boy situation or the ludicrous Italian cookery interludes, but for myself, I like a bit more substance to my stories。 And my cooking。

I like it, it's a lot of fun but is it anything groundbreaking。 Not particularly。 But I had a lot of fun and it's a quick read。 Also I managed to guess the ending the moment Hell was a Kingdom and a few other plot points。 So it wasn't that surprising but I liked it。 Emilia is kind of memorable, at least in how she isn't swooning。 It does what it sets out to do。 I like it, it's a lot of fun but is it anything groundbreaking。 Not particularly。 But I had a lot of fun and it's a quick read。 Also I managed to guess the ending the moment Hell was a Kingdom and a few other plot points。 So it wasn't that surprising but I liked it。 Emilia is kind of memorable, at least in how she isn't swooning。 It does what it sets out to do。 。。。more

Kingdom of the Wicked is a fast-paced, enemies-to-lovers kinda book。 It has a lot of myth and legend aspects as well as Italy in the 18th century。 I love wrath, and I mean, who doesn't <3, but I did find that the story wasn't all that well written and certain things were looked over or not focused on enough。 I think the idea behind the book is a good one, but the writing just wasn't it for me。 Kingdom of the Wicked is a fast-paced, enemies-to-lovers kinda book。 It has a lot of myth and legend aspects as well as Italy in the 18th century。 I love wrath, and I mean, who doesn't <3, but I did find that the story wasn't all that well written and certain things were looked over or not focused on enough。 I think the idea behind the book is a good one, but the writing just wasn't it for me。 。。。more
